In the last couple of months work has progressed on several fronts.
Track laying:
Phase one of the track work is substantially complete. This consists of the complex station throat and the platform and storage roads in the station. As previously mentioned we are using the FineTrax code 40 N gauge track. The pointwork is being assembled in situ allowing the flowing curves to be created. The points can be curved slightly where required by cutting part way through the webbing between the sleepers
The approach to the Station. The middle two roads are the mainlines. You can just see the start of the climb on to the embankment. |

Buildings:
Gibson Street which runs part way across the rear of the layout is being developed at a rate Barratts would be jealous of...
The view along Gibson Street. What is left of Gibson St is still cobbled today. |
A couple of interesting and contrasting Pubs have also appeared.
This is the Engineers arms which still stands today (converted into flats), though the road has moved! |
Bridges:
The bridges of the railway over Fountains Road and Fountains Road over the drain have also appeared. These features, both artificial, are the only real variation in height in the vicinity...
The next step is to wire the track laid so far in time to have something runnable for the Hull MRS Summer Show / Club Open Day on Saturday 4th June. Come along and see how we are getting on...
